About Us

Some of the best Americans have four legs.

We love America.

In 1917, a stray brindle dog wandered onto a drill field at Yale University. The soldiers training there named him Stubby. He was smuggled to France, fought in 17 battles, learned to detect gas attacks before the humans could, and captured a German spy by biting his pants until the Americans came running.

When he came home, the U.S. Army made him a Sergeant. He was the first dog to hold a military rank in the U.S. Army. After Stubby, an American dog could be more than a pet.

We thought that story should be on a collar somewhere.

So we looked at the patriotic dog brands that already existed. Most of them were built for one specific group: veterans, first responders, or the tactical crowd. A few were politically loud. We couldn't find anything for the rest of us, for people who just love America and want something nice for their dog. So we started one.

The American Heroes Collection

Sergeant Stubby is Edition 1. More editions are coming. We're working through the list now: presidential dogs, the dogs of American inventors, the ones whose humans shaped this country in ways big and small. Each edition tells one real dog's story.

About manufacturing

Everything was designed in New York. We looked hard for a US factory. The ones we found were out of budget for a new brand our size, so we manufacture with partners in China. That's on the hang tag, on the Amazon listing, and here. The day we can bring production home, we will.

What we care about

  • Real history. Every dog we feature actually existed. We check the records and we cite our sources.
  • Honesty. We're a small brand in New York. Not a factory, not a charity, not a movement. Just a team that likes making good dog gear and telling real American stories.
